~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Special Meeting in March!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Compatriots and friends, we have had a wonderful suggestion to move our March meeting to March 20, Saturday night, and join the Early Camp meeting for a special program. Details are below. Please let Commander Bailey know if you are interested in attending. His contact information can be found here.
Anyone needing or wanting to car pool can do so, so we can head over to Tampa for the dinner and program. The Early Camp website is listed below. You need to go to the website and print off a dinner reservation and send it in with a check for the dinner. Please do this early so they can get a proper headcount and make arrangements. We'll have a great time sharing fellowship with the Early Camp. Please note that a number of the Early Camp members bring their wives or girlfriends to their dinner meeting so it could be a night out also.
Folks,
Please consider this an open invitation to attend the next Early Camp Fellowship Meeting scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2010. We have an excellent speaker whose topic will be, "A View from Seminary Ridge." Come join us as we gather to honor our Confederate ancestors and our Southern history and heritage!
Art Hays
Cmdr., 9th Brigade
FL Division, SCV
6:00 Check in; 7 p.m. Dinner and Program
Clarion Hotel, 2701 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa
PROGRAM: A VIEW FROM SEMINARY RIDGE
SPEAKER: Mark Vogl, Author and 2nd Lt. Commander, Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans
ADVANCE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED: www.tampascv.org
Ever wonder what the scene at the Gettysburg battlefield was like? Then you don't want to miss our March guest speaker. Mark Vogl is a graduate of The Citadel, former Army combat arms officer, college professor, political aide, and author. His first book, Military Lessons of the Civil War, was published in the spring of 2007 and received the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold medal from the United Daughters of the Confederacy. His second book, published early in 2008, The Rebel Mountain Reader, includes many of the presentations he features at his speaking engagements, and more.
Mark is the great-great-grandson of Private David Parks Walter, 33rd North Carolina Volunteers, part of the famed Lane's brigade, Stonewall Jackson's Corps, Army of Northern Virginia! Mark has been a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans since 1994, and was awarded the Texas Division Confederate of the Year Award in 2009. Mark presently serves as the 2nd Lt.
Commander of the Texas Division.
Scores of groups around 13 States, interested in the history of the South, have heard Mark's fascinating and informative presentations.
A View from Seminary Ridge will reveal the reasons for General Lee's decision to conduct Pickett's Charge on the third day at Gettysburg.
Mark will bring his large full color, three dimensional replica of the Gettysburg battlefield.
Join us March 20th for this "don't miss" event!'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Support the SCV While Shopping - at SCV.We-Care.com~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Compatriots, you may remember a few years ago when we had a deal with Amazon where the SCV got a percentage of the money you spent there. Wouldn't it be nice to have places to shop where a portion of your money goes to support the SCV? Now you have that place, a whole mall in fact. A mall with hundreds of stores where each purchase helps the SCV. There you will find all the big name stores that you may already order from. Also there are discounts and coupons available.

We now have the SCV on-line Mall. We have partnered with an organization called We-Care. Their motto is Shop with Purpose. Well we certainly have a purpose! The link is: http://scv.we-care.com/

Of course this can only be a successful venture if we use it. Please immediately book mark that page. For those who might forget to go there before shopping, you can download a reminder, so that if you go to, for example eBay or Amazon, a box will pop up that asked is you want a portion to got to the SCV, you will of course say yes! You can find the reminder program under the Downloads tab on the Mall page or go to: http://scv.we-care.com/Downloads/Reminder

Please go check this out and spread the word. Anyone can shop there! Send the links to all your friends and family. Use it for business purchases. Put in on your social networking sites like facebook. Make it a part of your signature on your emails. Put the link on your personal webpage. Above I have placed a web banner that you can attach the link to. I ask all SCV webmasters to put it on their sites. Notice that I have not used the SCV logo on the banner, that way any of our friends, like the UDC or OCR, can place it on their sites as well!
